Pongola Community Centre is a holistic Non-Profit community-based organisation in the Northern KwaZulu-Natal under uPhongolo Local Municipality Ward 14 Candover. The organization was established October2016 and official registered 19-May 2017. Like many community-based NPO’s in South Africa, Pongola Community Centre seek to play a fundamental role in uplifting impoverished Candover and the surrounding communities. The organisation focus mainly in Poverty Alleviation, Areas of Health (HIV/AIDS Home Base Care), Education, Alcohol & Substance Abuse as well as Social Empowerment. With the aid of dedicated fulltime volunteers and fulltime staff, Pongola Community Centre work tirelessly to reach out ever-increasing number of men, women and children of varying ages brought forward by common and varying issues timely. 

Our Vision

Sought to scrap the tides of poverty, illnesses, illiterate and addictions setting free our underprivileged community by means of frequently compacted approaches in place and further attain excellence in caring for the future leaders.

Our Mission Statement

Centered ourselves in the rural areas providing, temporary shelter for rehabilitation, and skills development for orphans children, youth and adults who have been exposed to trauma, substance abuse, molestation, poverty, HIV/AIDS and mistreatment for the safe and healthy community that we all live.

Our Objectives:

a)   Providing all domestic care, temporary shelter, rehabilitation and skills development for orphans children and youth, who have been exposed to trauma, abuse, substance abuse, molestation, poverty, HIV/AIDS and mistreated.

b)   To provide subsequent early childhood development (ECD).

c)    To provide subsequent HIV, education, management and prevention.

d)   Allied to hospitals caring for people who are discharged and cannot be care for at home irrespective of illness type.

e)   Allied with hospitals to provide easy access to Antiretroviral that prolongs life for people living with HIV/AIDS.

f)    Caring for Children affected/infected with HIV and AIDS.

g)   To provide temporal accommodation and shelter for trauma & addiction rehabilitation.

h)   Allied with government departments to provide social services to deserving children, youth and adults.

i)     Using various form of media to advocate Children’s Rights and ensure that all children benefit from a safe environment through strengthened child protection structure.

j)    To provide subsequent parents education for anticipated planned parenting.

           k)To work hand in hand with the Department of Education providing                         adequate educational programmes during and after school.
